US— Ipsos’s acquisition of Synovate has the go-ahead from US anti-trust authorities, with the Federal Trade Commission granting early clearance of the deal yesterday.
Ipsos ranks seventh and Synovate ninth on the most recent US agency league table, but together they’ll shoot into fourth place with a combined revenue of $615m based on 2010 figures. That’s a 6.7% share of the $9.25bn in revenue generated by the US’s 199 biggest research agencies last year.
Synovate’s current owners, the shareholders of media buying group Aegis, voted in favour of selling the business in mid-August at a price of £525m.
