Ipsos completes takeover and integration of Ireland's MRBI

IRELAND— The Market Research Bureau of Ireland has been renamed Ipsos MRBI on the completion of its acquisition by Ipsos.

Ipsos made its move to buy the firm from WPP last year, after the European Commission ordered the marketing services group to sell MRBI on competition grounds following its acquisition of TNS.

Though the deal was agreed in July, Ipsos had to wait until the end of September for approval from the EC before integration efforts could get under way.

At the time it was first announced, Ipsos president Didier Truchot (pictured) said MRBI’s “talent, experience and long-lasting relationships with local clients will greatly benefit the Ipsos group”.

MRBI was founded in 1962 and was acquired by TNS in 1996.
