GfK ups stake in Indian joint venture with Nielsen

INDIA— GfK has become the majority owner in ORG-GfK, the joint venture it runs with Nielsen, increasing its stake from 40% to 50.1%.

ORG-GfK was launched by Nielsen and GfK in 1998 and specialises in providing retail data for technology products. It has offices in New Delhi and Mumbai and is headed by general manager Sameer Shukla (pictured).

As a result of the change in ownership stakes, the firm will change its name to GfK-Nielsen India. It generated €3m worth of sales in 2008.
