Cegedim acquires patient data firm Hospital Marketing Services

FRANCE— Healthcare research agency Cegedim Strategic Data (CSD) has acquired UK-based Hospital Marketing Services (HMS) for an undisclosed amount.

Formed in 1993, HMS specialises in hospital-based patient and promotion data analysis. Its managing director and founder, Peter McLeod, will stay with the firm to help with its integration into CSD.

Christopher Wooden, CSD’s regional vice president in the UK, said: “HMS is a well-known and respected company with whom we have already worked on a number of joint products that demonstrate the complimentary nature of our services.

“This acquisition enables us to augment our GP patient-level analysis with hospital-level patient data. It fits perfectly with our local UK businesses and provides opportunities for international expansion.”

Earlier this month, Cegedim acquired pharma intelligence firm the Nomi Group.
