LinkedIn polling application goes live

Business social network gives users the chance to survey other community members

US-- An application on LinkedIn that allows users of the business social networking site to survey other members has officially launched after six months of testing.

Users can ask questions of their own network of contacts free of charge, but the site charges a minimum $50 fee to target polls at specific groups from across the site.

Announcing the launch on the company's blog, product manager Elizabeth Reaves said: “We know that all professionals don't think alike, and that's why we break down poll responses based on the demographics of respondents to show you how variables such as company size, job title, job function, age or gender change the way people respond to your question.”

The polling application is separate from the sampling service LinkedIn unveiled in October, which offers market researchers the chance to recruit hard-to-reach business respondents from within the community.
