Kingsbury scales up with Ipsos Mori appointment

Mark Kingsbury named head of marketing research specialism at UK agency

UK-- Former Research International executive Mark Kingsbury has been appointed managing director of Ipsos Mori's marketing research specialism.

In the new role Kingsbury oversees a team of 100 people – in stark contrast with his most recent stint as an independent consultant.

He ran his own business, Bootstrap Insights, for a year-and-a-half following his resignation from RI in late 2006 after 18 years with the company, latterly as global head of market strategy.

Of his time as an independent, Kingsbury said: “I really enjoyed working on my own, but the scale was not there. I wanted to work on some big accounts.”

At Ipsos Mori he takes over from Cees Faber, the head of Ipsos Marketing for Central and Eastern Europe and Africa, who was overseeing the role on an interim basis following the departure of Marie-Louise Neill.

The marketing research team works predominantly with consumer goods manufacturers, retailers and healthcare and pharmaceutical companies, advising them on issues such as product marketing, new product development, packaging designs and store layouts.

Kingsbury told Research that it was an exciting time to be working in this particular area, given the economic pressures companies are facing.

“There's an urgency and real focus to the work that is going on at the moment that makes it exciting,” he said. “Clients are beginning to look at making moves now that will set them up for when things settle down.”
