News UK

UK — WPP’s retail and shopper insight agency Kantar Retail has announced an investment in Planorama, a Paris-based image recognition technology company.

Planorama was set up in 2009 by its founder and CEO Vincent Jacques; its technology is used to transform in-store images into commercial and marketing data.

Jacques said: “This investment will help us better support our customers globally through Kantar’s network. We aim to bring to the market further breakthrough products by combining our technology with several existing Kantar and Smollan capabilities.” Smollan invested in the business last year.

Phil Smiley, joint CEO of Kantar Retail said: “Image recognition technology is key in enabling manufacturers and retailers to efficiently and effectively track and improve retail execution.”
