Kadence defies downturn as it doubles revenue
MALAYSIA-- B2B research specialist Kadence looks set to clock up revenue of US$11m in the first six months of the 08/09 financial year – double its tally at the same time last year, CEO Simon Everard has told Research.
Speaking today from the company's Kuala Lumpur office, he said the second quarter – the three months ending 31 December – will be a record one for the firm, building on a 68% growth in revenue in the first quarter to more than US$5m.
Everard said repeat business was delivering a real boost to Kadence, while the Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta offices were also bearing fruit after their first full year of operations.
With other Asia Pacific offices in Delhi, Singapore and Hong Kong – and a Shanghai office now planned for next year – the UK-headquartered company would seem well positioned to weather the economic downturn in its home market and the US, where the bulk of its business comes from.
But despite the “reasonably quiet” start to the calendar year reported in both territories back in February, the UK went on to deliver revenue growth of 82% in the three months ending 30 September.
Everard said the only hint of economic jitters the agency had detected was in the delay last week of three projects, which have been pushed back into 2009.
