Japan's Intage sees 3.7% increase in 08/09 sales

Revenue up to ¥34.35bn but profit falls 2.1% to ¥1.73bn

JAPAN-- Marketing research agency Intage has posted sales up 3.7% to ¥34.35bn ($348.8m) for the year ended 31 March.

Operating profit was virtually flat at ¥3.32bn ($33.7m) while net income fell 2.1% to ¥1.73bn ($17.6m).

The results were in sharp contrast to the previous 07/08 financial year, where sales were up 7.5%, operating profit climbed 13% and net income rose 8.5%.

Looking ahead to the year ended 31 March 2010, Intage forecasted flat sales growth for the first six months and double-digit profit declines. It expects to see a pick up in the second half, however, with sales finishing the year up 2.7% and earnings up 3.2%.

Earlier this year, Intage bought Chinese agency Hyperlink in a $11m deal.
