Ipsos Reid launches online ethnic panel

Three-thousand strong panel offers surveys in five languages

CANADA-- Ipsos Reid has launched a 3,000-strong online panel of ethnic and new Canadians.

The Multicultural Connection Panel is run by the firm's ethnic and new Canadians division and allows respondents to take surveys in traditional or simplified Chinese, Punjabi, Hindi or English.

The firm said that the cost of using the panel is between 30% and 50% cheaper than traditional telephone interviewing costs.

Ipsos Reid vice president Jill Hong, who leads the division, said: “Ethnic and new Canadians are a growing and influential group within the Canadian population…Not only is their size relevant, but also because of their geographic concentration these groups represent significant opportunities for marketers.”

The firm plans to grow the panel to 5,000 respondents by the end of the year and hopes to entice more South Asian and Chinese Canadian members.
