ICF International to buy Macro from InfoGroup for $155m

InfoGroup to sell off ‘non-strategic' social and health research firm

US-- Public sector consulting group ICF International has agreed a deal to buy health and social research agency Macro International from InfoGroup for around $155m.

InfoGroup CEO Bill Fairfield said: “Macro's focus on governmental social research is not a strategic fit for the company's overall portfolio of businesses,” and it was the “right move” to sell it to ICF.

ICF International's chairman and CEO Sudhakar Kesavan said: “Macro is an excellent strategic fit for ICF, adding capabilities and clients in one of our largest market segments – health, human services and social programs – which are among the most important areas of the Obama administration's focus.”

The deal is set to be completed “within the next few days” and Fairfield said it was a “win-win” situation for all parties.

InfoGroup bought Macro, which is headquartered in Washington and has more than 700 full time staff, in 2006 as part of its acquisition of Opinion Research Corporation.
