UK— The research division of Chime Communications saw increases in revenue and operating income for the six-month period ending 30 June, but the firm warned it is still operating in a “difficult” marketplace.
Chime’s research division, which is made up of Facts International, Opinion Leader and Tree, saw revenue rise 20% from £4.7m to £5.7m while operating income was up 12% to £3.9m from £3.5m. But headline operating profit dipped from £379,000 to £353,000.
The group, which is headed by Lord Tim Bell (pictured), said quantitative research maintained a good level of performance, while data analytics business Tree saw “good growth”. Its qualitative business, however, is “unlikely to return to profit until the fourth quarter”.
New client wins across the research division included O2, Hiscox, Prudential, Morrisons, Green Flag, Sky and Chartis Insurance.
Group-wide revenue was up 13% to £153m and operating profit rose 30% to £13m.
