US — ComScore co-founder Magid Abraham is handing over the CEO reins to president Serge Matta, it was announced yesterday.

Abraham, who has led the company for the past 15 years, will become executive chairman, while his founding partner Gian Fulgoni becomes chairman emeritus.

In a blog post, Abraham said the change would allow him “to focus more energy on the part of my job that I have always loved: strategy and product innovation”.

Matta, his successor, has worked for comScore since 2000. In 2012, he was made president of commercial solutions, before becoming company president in July 2013.

Abraham said: “In the last two years, Serge – working closely with Cameron Meierhoefer, Chris Lin, Mike Brown and our commercial leaders – has demonstrated his ability to lead the company by progressively taking on broader responsibilities for commercial operations and marketing, followed by a deeper involvement and leadership in the strategic and operational decision making process. I strongly believe that this change will bring comScore even more success than we’ve already achieved.”

The changes take effect from 1 March.

Alongside the senior reshuffle, comScore announced a sharp rise in fourth quarter and annual revenues, the former up 15% to $76.5m, the latter up 16% to $285.5m.

Commenting on the company’s performance and prospects, Abraham said: “We have a unique opportunity to shape a fast-developing, cross-media and total video measurement market that we believe to be approximately $3bn in size. Our FTC-mandated license agreement with Nielsen for TV viewing data from 70,000 Arbitron panelists will enable significant expansion of our cross-media measurement capabilities with a very attractive cost structure.”
