Echometrix wins support from film, TV firms

Paramount, DreamWorks and Fox Broadcasting to help customise sentiment analysis tool

US-- Film studios Paramount and DreamWorks and TV broadcaster Fox have agreed to help software firm SearchHelp develop a sentiment analysis tool for use by marketers and researchers.

The Echometrix Pulse technology is based around SearchHelp's Sentry Parental Controls software, a tool originally designed to protect children from suspected paedophiles by analysing language in online conversations that take place via email or in blogs, forums and messaging programmes.

SearchHelp set out its plans earlier this year to adapt the technology for use in a commercial context, and since that time it has put together an advisory board of entertainment industry veterans, including the former president of ABC, Frederick Pierce, to assist in the customisation process.

Echometrix Pulse is due for release in the first quarter of next year. Pierce said: “The goal is to have the Pulse as a tool on the desktop of every marketing decision maker.”
