Data firm ‘bucks trend' with new call centre

400 interviewer jobs created as Consumer Contact opens its fifth centre in Canada

CANADA-- Research data collection agency Consumer Contact is opening a new call centre in the north-east of Toronto next month with 400 interviewer jobs to fill.

It will be the company's fifth centre in the country, taking its total number of call stations to almost 450.

Chairman Don Ambrose boasts that the opening is in stark contrast to the moves its competitors are making.

Only last week, call centre owner ICT Group announced it was pulling its research services and closing all or part of six US and Canadian centres in favour of lower-cost offshore operations.

Derek Bildfell, president of Consumer Contact, said: “Our telephone data collection service has grown significantly over the past few years, due to our specialisation in customer satisfaction and loyalty monitoring and reporting.

“The top priority for marketing during a recession is customer research. Our expertise in this area will continue to drive growth through 2009.”
