Arbitron axes head tech and research role

Owen Charlebois to leave firm after strategic review

US-- Owen Charlebois is to leave Arbitron after the firm axed his role of president of technology, research and development following a strategic review of operations.

The elimination of the role, and that of the president of sales and marketing position, are part of an “expense reduction” and realignment plan announced earlier this month by new CEO Michael Skarzynski.

Pierre Bouvard, previously president of sales and marketing, has become executive vice president for sales.

Charlebois will leave at the end of March when an acting vice president of research, who the firm declined to name at this time, and chief technology officer Taymoor Arshi will take responsibility for Arbitron's technology and research efforts.

Charlebois joined the company in 2001 from BBM Bureau of Measurement having previously served as president of Gallup in Canada. During his career he was president and an elected fellow of the Professional Marketing Research Society, president of the Canadian Association of Marketing Research Organizations and director of the Canadian Survey Research Council.
