Arbitron appoints strategy and biz dev boss

Taher Behbehani fills new role to exploit multimedia potential of PPM

US-- Arbitron has filled the last of three newly created executive roles with the appointment of Taher Behbehani as chief strategy and business development officer.

Behbehani, 47, was most recently vice president for business affairs at Time Warner Cable, where he was responsible for establishing partnerships with web search and display advertising companies.

He said: “I joined Arbitron to help the company extend its portable people meter (PPM) platform into multimedia markets… My goal is to help the company create balanced business expansion strategies that will make the most of its technology and capital assets.”

Last month the firm appointed Alton Adams as chief marketing officer and Robert Henrick as executive vice president for customer solutions. Adams is responsible for developing cross-media measurement tools using the portable people meter system, while Henrick has taken charge of survey research methods and product management.

The roles were created by new CEO Michael Skarzynski as part of a “staff realignment” project which also saw the departure of tech and research boss Owen Charlebois and Linda Dupree, who oversaw new product development for PPM.

The firm is currently facing the prospect of investigation by the Federal Communications Commission, which is considering an inquiry into the effect of the PPM measurement system on minority broadcasters.
