Web analytics pros sign up in support of code of ethics

Data analytics North America

US— Almost a hundred web analytics experts have expressed support for a new code of ethics, published by the Web Analytics Association (WAA), which sets out the industry’s commitment to data privacy, transparency, consumer control, education and accountability.

The full list of supporters can be found here, and the ethics statement here.

Work began on developing the code in September amid rising anxiety over online data privacy in public and political spheres.

WAA president Peter Sanborn (pictured) said: “Internet privacy is an issue that has received a lot of attention recently, but web analytics professionals have been grappling with the issue since the early days of the web.

“The WAA Code of Ethics codifies and gives voice to the thousands of web analytics professionals throughout the world that WAA represents.”
