ABC in deal with Verve Wireless to audit mobile newspapers
US— The Audit Bureau of Circulations has struck up a partnership with Verve Wireless to audit newspaper content delivered via Verve’s mobile publishing platform.
Verve says it works with more than 600 newspaper publishers in the US, Canada and Europe. It points to figures for March that show 160 million mobile news pages served to nine million readers.
The ABC partnership paves the way for US and Canadian publishers to report audited stats on their mobile audiences – including breakdowns by device type, day and day part, unique visitors and page views.
ABC president Michael Lavery said: “With all the buzz around the iPad (pictured) and with use of mobile browsers exploding, newspaper and their advertisers are increasingly interested in seeing mobile metrics detailed in ABC reports.”

If this is for Verve only, how is this an audit? Surely it is a partial audit as all other mobile publishing platforms are excluded? As a buyer of ABC data, I want two things (i) to be able to get a read on the total market and (ii) to be able to trust that this data has not be gamed. Methinks the ABC is listening too much to "buzz".
