Analytics tool on the cards for Twitter

Co-founder Biz Stone discuss plans for premium services

US-- Twitter is set to launch premium services for its corporate users by the end of the year – with an analytics tool being one of the options on the table, said co-founder Biz Stone.

Speaking via videolink at the Reuters Global Technology Summit, Stone said the company was busy “gathering intel” on how businesses large and small are using the microblogging site.

Next, he said, the company will start looking at the kinds of tools and services it might be able to offer on top of the existing free services that companies would be willing to pay for.

“Is there information we can offer to these companies to help them get more out of Twitter? Lightweight analytics, or something like this,” said Stone.

Twitter is regularly touted as a potential research tool for companies, with applications ranging from buzz monitoring through to opt-in survey research.
