Research 2009: Time to enter Room 101

Dan O’Donoghue, Publicis Worldwide’s head of strategic planning, hosts this lighthearted session from Research 2009, where three researchers get some pet hates off their chest.

This was the session that closed the first day of conference. It was designed to be a pick-me-up before that night’s party. It delivered on the design.

The three researchers who took part were; Gareth Roberts, managing director, Safari Research, Nick Southgate, planning partner, Grey Advertising and Tracy Hubbard, research director, i to i Research.

It’s a cracking 20 minutes or so of real passion, but special credit must go to Nick Southgate who served up a highly entertaining gem with the kicking that he doles out to the research debrief. A real highlight.

  • surely recruiters and fieldwork agencies have a large role to play in the recruitment of professional respondents? i've been round recruiter's houses for focus groups and had respondents wandering down to use the toilet (and knowing exactly where it is) when supposedly they'ver never been in the house before!...i find it hard to believe that there are professional respondents waiting to pounce on unwitting recruiters that they see them on the street....i would suggest Gareth that checking in on the quality of your recruitment could largely help to overcome this issue....
