Financial services research
Innovative brand and product repositioning to rebuild consumer trust

This event was sponsored by:

Wednesday 14 October 2009
Crowne Plaza - The City, London

The conference, sponsored by Consensus, was chaired once again by financial journalist Richard Young who artfully engaged the delegates and brought the entire room together to examine and discuss how insight is being used to better understand and communicate with customers in our post-credit crunch world.

Highlights at the event this year included a very compelling presentation by Roger Donbavand, director at BDRC, and Professor Nigel Waite, chair of the financial services research forum at Nottingham University Business School. They spoke about rebranding and repositioning to re-attract customers and investment.

Carol McCreadle, head of insight at Standard Life, and Clare Bruce, chief executive at Nunwood gave a comprehensive case study presentation on how Standard Life evolved its channel strategy to better meet the needs of customers.

Roger Ashworth, head of customer insight, at Tesco Personal Finance charmed everyone with views on how his team has successfully embedded TCF into the fabric of Tesco Personal Finance.

The evening ended with a discussion on evaluating key research methodologies that can deliver low-budget high-return market research for recession-hit industries and delegates then retired to a wine reception courtesy of our sponsors Consensus.

The conference also explored the role of research in:

  • Developing new models to fuel the green shoots of recovery
  • Rebranding and rebuilding broken trust with valued customer segments
  • Understanding and responding to customers’ drivers and inhibitors in an economic downturn
  • Communicating effectively using the right language and channel strategy
  • Improving customer acquisition and loyalty of high net worth customers
  • Developing detailed customer insights that translate into targeted service offerings
