UK — The headline Global Marketing Index has indicated a strong start to the year for marketing activity.
The monthly index, compiled by World Economics, tracks conditions among marketers and their expectations in three key areas of trading conditions, marketing budgets and staffing levels.
The headline GMI for January was up by 2.6 points on the December figure to reach 57.7, suggesting that panellists across the world are experiencing strong and growing business activity.
Broken down by market, Europe’s index grew by 1.8 points to 58.1, while The Americas rose by 4.1 points to 57.3. Asia Pacific showed a modest rise of 1.5 points but has the highest index of 58.5.
All media platforms except digital and mobile experienced a fall in budget allocations.
